Government Relations
Kohnen & Patton attorneys practice in the area of government
relations, both on behalf of our clients, and as special
legislative and administrative counsel for others. Our services
in this area include drafting legislation and serving as
a legislative consultant at the local, state and federal
levels. In addition to legislative activities, we work with
the executive branches of government at all levels in both
the promulgation and interpretation of regulations. Industries
served by our attorneys include asbestos, tobacco, food and
beverage, brewery, chemicals, and agricultural products.
K&P attorneys have worked with foreign governments on behalf of clients in connection with
building industrial installations in third world countries, assisting in writing enabling legislation,
and arranging financing with the World Bank, Overseas Private Investment Company, and export
assistance agencies of developed countries.
We have also advised clients on export licensing under governmental regulations, compliance with
the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, and administrative exceptions to export license restrictions.
